Common error messages
| Error | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| File too large | File exceeds 25 MB limit | Compress the file or split it into smaller documents. |
| Unsupported format | File type is not PDF, DOCX, PNG, or JPG | Convert the file to PDF before uploading. |
| Invalid file | File is corrupted or password-protected | Remove password protection or re-export from the original application. |
| Upload failed | Network interruption during upload | Check your internet connection and try again. |
Password-protected PDFs
SignMeHere cannot process password-protected PDF files. Remove the password in your PDF editor (e.g. Adobe Acrobat: File > Properties > Security > No Security) before uploading.
Scanned documents
Scanned PDFs work fine, but very high-resolution scans may exceed the size limit. Use your scanner's "web quality" or 150 DPI setting for smaller file sizes.
